Biosecurity on Farms
· ☕ 6 min read · ✍️ Carlos Dagorret
There are times when perniciously false premises are treated as the criteria by which truth is determined. We lose the argument before it’s begun. And where does that leave us in our efforts to control mortal dangers of our own making? An article of faith among veterinarians and epidemiologists is that large industrial farms are both biosecure and biocontained: livestock pathogens such as highly pathogenic influenza can’t check in, and if they do, they can’t check out.

Caffeine Reduces the Risk of Alzheimer Disease

If you think that your daily cups of coffee only provide you with alertness after you wake up or during the day, think again. Long-term intake of caffeine, the major constituent in coffee and tea, has been shown to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s in mice that develop the disease. In a study just published on-line in the Journal Neuroscience, researchers at the Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute in Tampa, Florida, are reporting that caffeine intake equivalent to five cups of coffee a day in humans, protects Alzheimer’s mice against otherwise certain memory impairment and reduces Alzheimer’s pathology in their brains.

Html to Markdown

I'm working on a documentation project where I might need to convert some existing HTML pages back into text or Markdown format for the new system. Rather than manually editing the HTML source, I'm testing with a couple different ways to script it automatically. Lynx Lynx is an open-source text web browser that is usually present on Linux machines and can be installed for Mac and Windows. I\\’ve used it in the past to see how web pages will appear to search engines or for accessibility testing.

If you owe your bank a hundred pounds, you have a problem. But if you owe a million, it has. -JMK This recession that we have been suffering through since essentially late 2007 is not something new; our economic history contains numerous instances of negative-growth economies, some obviously worse than others. However, in many ways, our current situation has perhaps brought to light the name John Maynard Keynes; a name that most likely wasn’t familiar to most people before this recent downturn and even in the midst of our recession, who he actually was and how his writings have influenced our economy may not be well known.

These days, the internet has grown into a veritable wealth of information for college seekers. Everything from applying for financial aid to taking a course can be accomplished online. Now, a student can even obtain online degrees from one of many schools offering online education as a viable alternative to a traditional classroom education. How different are these two methods of teaching, and do either prove better for the student?

Malcolm X on John Brown

John Brown was a guerrilla fighter, who worked together with Harriet Tubman, and who fought and died for African American National Liberation. This month is the 150th anniversary of militant white abolotionist John Brown’s armed raid on the federal arsenal at Harper’s Ferry, an important moment in the African American Liberation struggle. To mark the occasion, here is a quote from Malcolm X in 1965 (My year of birth): There are many white people in this country, especially the younger generation, who realize that the injustice that has been done and is being done to black people cannot go on without the chickens coming home to roost eventually.

The C/C ++ language is still preferred to program complete systems for native applications of great perfomance in the different platforms. Getting a list of resources and books takes time and lots of reading. I leave my list, maybe it will help. At least it’s a list to start looking for. Good luck Beginner Introductory, no previous programming experience Programming: Principles and Practice Using C++ (Bjarne Stroustrup) (updated for C++11/C++14) An introduction to programming using C++ by the creator of the language.
